TODAY IPL FUNDA

MODI, Chairman and Commissioner of IPL has been ousted by the BCCI governing Council today. Chirayu Amin, president of Baroda Cricket Association, will take charge of IPL.
A message on twitter cost Modi dearly, finally he has to vacate the office of commissioner of the most popular sporting event of the world. The new man in charge is Chirayu Amin.

The Governing Council met this morning to discuss impropriety charges served to Modi last night via email. In 34 page notice Modi stands accused of allegedly on several counts. Last night suspension of Modi was just a signal that he will not be able to attend the meeting. Modi has 15 days to respond to the notice. Except Modi and Farooq Abdullah, every member was present in the meeting.

Meanwhile, newly appointed IPL chairman Chirayu Amin said his immediate priority is to lean up the T20 League.

“ The immediate task is to clean up the IPL. The game has been concluded and so we will start planning for the next year. That is priority right now,”Amin said.

The president of Baroda Cricket Association and BCCI Vice President, was a surprise pick for the post. He name was not even in the list of probables. Amin owns a Pharmaceuticals Company, and hails from Gujrat.

Meanwhile, as the story is unfolding, Modi is getting trapped in more and more nets. Latest news is that his wife does hold stake in one of the IPL teams. Name of which is not known yet. This revelation will hit Modi really hard, as he was attacking Tharoor on similar charges.

POVERTY IN INDIA

Even more than 50 years after independence from almost two centuries of British rule, large scale poverty remains the most shameful blot on the face of India.

• India still has the world’s largest number of poor people in a single country. Of its nearly 1 billion inhabitants, an estimated 350-400 million are below the poverty line, 75 per cent of them in the rural areas.

• More than 40 per cent of the population is illiterate, with women, tribal and scheduled castes particularly affected.

• It would be incorrect to say that all poverty reduction programms have failed. The growth of the middle class (which was virtually non-existent when India became a free nation in August 1947) indicates that economic prosperity has indeed been very impressive in India, but the DISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH has been very uneven.

• The main causes of poverty are illiteracy, a population growth rate by far exceeding the economic growth rate for the better part of the past 50 years, protectionist policies pursued since 1947 to 1991 which prevented large amounts of foreign investment in the country.

• Poverty alleviation is expected to make better progress in the next 50 years than in the past, as a trickle-down effect of the growing middle class. Increasing stress on education, reservation of seats in government jobs and the increasing empowerment of women and the economically weaker sections of society, are also expected to contribute to the alleviation of poverty.

• Eradication of poverty can only be a very long-term goal in India.

Mera Bharat Dukhi Hai

Kyun aaj mein dukhi hun,

Mujhe gham kiska sata raha hai.

Uss mor par jo andhra chaya hai,

Kyun mujhe woh daraa raha hai

Kyun unchayiyana mere mulk ki,

Mujhe khokhli dikhai de rahi hain,

Kyun woh jo gehra ander sama raha hai

Woh hai meri zami ka dil

Jo aaj dukh mana raha hai,

Noch rahe hai zamane wale,

Har ek apna jeevan sawar raha hai

Mere mulk ka kya hoga ae jan..

Mera bharat dukhi hai , dukh mana raha hai.
